The Devil’s BFF is finally published!

After writing this story while getting my Master’s at NKU, I always liked it.

But for some reason, I never tried getting it published anywhere. Then, two years ago, I read it to Carrington and the reaction was so good I decided I wanted to do this for myself, but also to show my daughter that these things were possible and could be done.

After 18 months or so of sending these out to literary journals, I heard some good feedback and lots of rejections. Finally, The Heartland Review, out of our home state of Kentucky, told me they wanted to use it — but they asked if I could wait until their next issue, which was effectively a year away.

Of course, I said. I was just happy someone liked it and wanted to publish it.

So I waited. And then, they published it. And now I can show Carrington that if you work hard enough, you can be rewarded. It’s my sixth published short story, and it has now been moved over into the “published” section of this website.

I have to thank my daughter for the inspiration to get this done.
